Patient Surgery Guide

Preoperative Visit

After your operation is scheduled, you may be called by a member of the Center’s staff to schedule a preoperative visit. Some patients, depending on the type of anesthesia they will receive, or other factors, may not be required to have a preoperative visit.

On the day of your preoperative visit, please bring the following items with you:

  1. HEALTH QUESTIONNAIRE
If you received a Health Care Questionnaire, complete the entire questionnaire. This information helps the doctors and nurses prepare to give you the best possible care. You should bring the completed questionnaire with you on the day of your preoperative visit.
  2. INSURANCE INFORMATION
Bring all cards and forms, claims address and phone number, insurance identification and policy/group number, and name, address and phone number of employer.
  3. DRIVER’S LICENSE OR OTHER GOVERNMENT ISSUED PHOTO ID
If the photo ID does not show the current residential address (or if a PO Box is listed), then the patient should also bring a recent utility bill or other correspondence showing the current residential address. Have the patient’s social security number and date of birth available as well as the social security number and date of birth for the subscriber to the insurance.

Preoperative Testing

Your surgeon will notify your Primary Care Physician about any preoperative testing requirements. All testing should be ordered/performed by you Primary Care Physician.

Preoperative Instructions

A nurse and a member of the anesthesia staff will meet with you during your preoperative visit to review your Health Questionnaire and discuss you care. You will receive written preoperative instruction on the day of your visit to the Center.

Patients Not Scheduled For Preoperative Visits

If you are not scheduled for a preoperative visit a member of the Center’s staff will call you the day before your operation to gather necessary information. Please bring your insurance information and your Social Security number on the day of your surgery.

Financial Issues

Vision One Laser & Surgery Center charges a predetermined facility fee for each procedure. These predetermined fees account for a number of factors such as the amount of time typically required in the operating/treatment and recovery rooms, the amounts and types of supplies and drugs used during and after a procedure.

Insurance

For Your Procedure

Please be aware for your procedure at Vision One there will be three or four bills associated with each visit.

There is usually an outpatient co- pay due the day of surgery according to most insurance policies. If you are unsure you have a copay, please contact your insurance company as your surgery may be cancelled for non-payment.
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover Card, cash, cashier’s checks or personal checks ten days in advance.
  3. AnesthiPlus – the anesthesiologist’s fee.
  4. CBL or Quest Pathology Fee. These are pathology lab fees that may be charged for some surgeries (not usually for cataract, retina or pain management surgery). PLEASE BE NOTE, THERE WILL BE AN OUTPATIENT COPAY FOR EACH OF THESE SERVICES.

The Day Before Your Operation

Failure to observe the above requirements may result in cancellation of your operation or procedure.

The Day of Your Operation

If you are unable to keep you appointment or will be late, please call the Center at (610) 280-9144.

After Your Operation

After your operation, you will be taken to the Recovery Room where you will be monitored and cared for until you are ready to go home. The amount of time patients stay in the recovery room is highly variable (depending on individual differences, surgical procedure and type of anesthesia), but usually ranges from 30 to 90 minutes.

In the event of unforeseen complications, you will be admitted to the hospital. Center staff will discuss this with you and your escort.

An adult MUST take you home. You may not drive yourself home or take public transportation.

You will receive instruction about your care at home. It is not unusual to feel slightly dizzy or sleepy after receiving anesthesia and undergoing and operation.

A nurse from the Center will call you the day after your operation to evaluate your recovery and answer any question you may have.

Feel free to call us if you have any questions or comments before, during or after you operation.

We look forward to caring for you.
